Berry

Berries are widely used in Persian cuisine, for example in rice pilafs (known as zereshk polo) and for seasoning poultry. Due to their characteristic sour taste, berries are sometimes cooked with sugar before being added to Persian rice. Dried zereshk is sold in Iranian markets. In Russia, they are occasionally used in jams (especially mixed berry jams), and an extract made from them is commonly used to flavor soft drinks, as well as sweets and other delicacies.
